rambling

From day one, this blog has been all about fashion. But let's just face it, I am not such a good or unique dresser to make this blog stand out. So I guess I should probably change it a little bit.

Maybe this should just be my little online diary where I ramble about all the mundane stuffs happening in my life. I guess it would be a good thing, considering all the changes that are about to happen.

So goodbye for now. Will be back soon, I guess.

Gloomy Saturday

Hi guys,

It's been another long hiatus I guess. You know I used to complain about England's weather, that it was so cold, dark and gloomy. Apparently it's now the same in Hanoi. And it's draining all the positive thoughts out of me.

Anyway, we got a (sort of) outfit of the day photoshoot last Saturday and I got some nice photos, so I thought I should probably update the blog again to share them with you guys.

How I wear it: Boyfriend Jeans

Hi guys,

It's been so long and I'm so sorry again :(

I've been working on a new blogazine with my friend and I spent so much time working on it that I didn't have much time to write for my own blog. I have a huge crush on boyfriend jeans. It's been a while but I didn't dare to wear them because I'm super petite and boyfriend jeans normally make your legs look bigger and shorter. I finally decided to be brave and purchase a pair of boyfriend jeans from ZARA last month. And I'm glad I did because they look pretty good, as long as I only wear them with heels (any types of heels from ankle strap, court shoes to heeled boots). 

I put together 5 looks for the boyfriend jeans feature on ON 21 Blog a few weeks ago and we planned to do a photoshoot but haven't get around it so I thought I could just use Polyvore to put the outfits together and share them with you guys here first. The thing about these looks is that they can be worn by petite girls (go for heeled brogues instead of flats for the last look) xD

New Look Spring/Summer 2014 Press Day

Hi guys! I have been so busy lately. I'm working on a new project with a friend and we get so excited about working on it that I haven't got time to work on my own blog. The new project will be launched soon so hopefully our hard work will pay off and you guys will have something new to enjoy.

New Look sent me an invitation to the press event for their spring/summer 2014 collection at the beginning of the month, when I was already back in Vietnam. Luckily I got a few friends in London and one of them happily agreed to go to the press event in my place.

As I wasn't able to come to the event myself, I was very excited to see all the photos and share them with you guys. I definitely love their lingerie corner and the jewellery wall. The lingerie corner is just way too cute with all the floral prints. Their tropical, tribal prints and laces for the clothes and accessories in the collection are super lovely as well.  

I'm really sorry I couldn't write any longer. I will keep you posted with the new project and I really hope you will enjoy it, especially anyone from Vietnam :)

Muses: Miroslava Duma

Anyone who love and follow fashion will definitely know Miroslava Duma (Mira). She was the editor of Harper's Bazaar Russia before she decided to go freelancing. Now beside working as a freelancer, she manages her own website (buro247.ru) while being a fashionable mother and a fabulous style icon. She's constantly photographed for the street-style section of several magazines and she appeared in Vogue's Today I'm wearing section as well.

Bất cứ một ai đam mê thời trang hoặc chăm chỉ theo dõi các thông tin về thời trang đều biết đến cái tên Miroslava Duma (Mira). Cô đã từng là biên tập viên của tạp chí Harper's Bazaar Nga trước khi quyết định chuyển sang làm freelancing. Bây giờ thì bên cạnh việc cộng tác cho rất nhiều tờ báo khác nhau, Mira còn điều hành trang web riêng của mình (buro247.ru) đồng thời là một bà mẹ cực kì thời trang và một ngôi sao street-style. Ảnh của cô thường xuyên xuất hiện trên mục street-style của các báo, đặc biệt là trong các dịp Fashion Week và cô còn được mời xuất hiện trong phần Today I'm wearing của Vogue online nữa.

What I love most about Mira is that she is just around 5" tall, which means she is about my height, but she can pull off anything. I literally mean anything. She challenged the notion that petite girls can only wear certain types of clothes by wearing pretty much whatever she wants, whenever she wants it. Such an inspiration for all the super petite girls out there!

Điều mà mình thích nhất chính là Mira chỉ cao khoảng 152-155cm, tức là tương đương chiều cao của mình, nhưng cô ấy mặc bất cứ cái gì cũng đẹp cả. Mira đã thay đổi hoàn toàn suy nghĩ rằng những người thấp bé thì chỉ nên mặc một số loại quần áo nhất định thôi, bằng cách mặc đủ các thể loại quần áo mà cô ấy muốn. Thật sự là một niềm động viên lớn cho các cô gái có chiều cao khiêm tốn (như mình xD)! 

Another thing that I really love about Mira is that she always chooses to wear a mixture of high street brands, luxury brands, newly established designers and legendary designers; and I think a lot of new/young brands have thanked her for that. Last February, she wore Shourouk's clear clutch bag to New York fashion week. The photo of her and the bag was published on Vogue and Vogue's facebook page and got a massive number of likes and shares and people asking where they can get one for themselves. The Zara dress that Mira wore (photo below) was also sold out very quickly (but it's probably because other celebrities wore it as well, like my other favourite Olivia Palermo).

Còn một điều nữa mà mình thích về Mira, đó là cô không chỉ mặc trang phục của các nhãn hiệu lớn và nổi tiếng mà còn chọn kết hợp chúng với những nhãn hiệu trung bình như Zara hay các nhãn hiệu mới, các nhà thiết kế trẻ như Shourouk, Christopher Kane hay Mary Katrantzou (toàn là các nhãn hiệu mình cực kì mê nhưng chưa bao giờ dám bỏ tiền ra mua). Tuần lễ thời trang New York tháng 2 vừa rồi, Mira có đeo một chiếc túi trong suốt có đính đá màu swarovski của Shourouk. Bức ảnh cô đeo chiếc túi được đăng lên Vogue và facebook của Vogue, từ đó nhận được rất nhiều likes, shares và mọi người hỏi xem chiếc túi đó của nhãn hiệu nào. Bức ảnh này cũng được nhãn hiệu Shourouk chọn làm cover photo cho facebook của họ mấy tháng liền. Đây là một chiêu quảng cáo cực kì tốt mà mình nghĩ khá nhiều nhãn hiệu mới đang áp dụng. Tuy nhiên điều quan trọng là, đồ của họ phải đủ đẹp và độc đáo để lọt vào mắt xanh của những ngôi sao street-style như Mira. Chiếc váy Zara mà Mira mặc (ảnh bên dưới) cũng bán rất chạy và hết hàng cực kì nhanh (nhưng cũng có thể bởi vì ngoài Mira thì chiếc váy này cũng được một số fashionista khác ưa chuộng, như là Olivia Palermo - một trong những fashionista khác mà mình rất yêu thích)

Can you believe that she is 28 and has a 3 years old son? Her petite size, her short hair and her fabulous fashion style make her look so much younger than her actual age! Even when she was pregnant, Mira still managed to look stylish and chic all the time.

Khó có thể tin được là cô gái trong những bức ảnh trên đã 28 tuổi và là mẹ của một cậu con trai 3 tuổi. Vóc dáng bé nhỏ và mái tóc ngắn hợp với khuôn mặt cộng thêm cách ăn mặc trẻ trung và độc đáo khiến cho Mira trông trẻ hơn tuổi của cô rất nhiều. Những cô gái có vóc dáng bé nhỏ có thể học hỏi được rất nhiều từ Mira đấy. Ngay cả khi mang bầu cậu con trai đầu lòng, Mira vẫn luôn biết cách lựa chọn những bộ đồ phù hợp và lúc nào trông cô cũng tươi tắn, hiện đại và rất phong cách.

Miroslava Duma is one of the people who most inspire me. I really admire her and I (not so) secretly hope that by the time I'm 30, I will be able to achieve what she had when she was 25.

Mira là một trong những người truyền cảm hứng cho mình nhiều nhất. Mình cực kì hâm mộ cô ấy và (bí mật) hi vọng là đến khi 30 tuổi sẽ có một sự nghiệp thành công như Mira ở tuổi 25 =)

The Pink Coat

Hello! It's Monday morning here in Hanoi and although it was predicted that the super typhoon would hit us today and it would rain heavily all day, the rain actually stopped at 8.30 in the morning. It is actually a good thing as I don't need to get out of the house to go to work, instead I'm just gonna stay at home and work on my laptop all day.

Bây giờ (lúc mình bắt đầu viết những dòng này) là sáng thứ hai ở và mặc dù như dự báo thời tiết thì hôm nay bão về, trời sẽ mưa to suốt cả ngày, nhưng sáng nay lúc mình ngủ dậy chuẩn bị đi làm thì trời đã tạnh mưa hẳn rồi. Kể ra thì thế cũng tốt vì tự dưng mình được cho làm việc ở nhà thay vì phải đến công ty như mọi khi.

I know I wrote a blog post about pink when I first started blogging. But I still want to write another one today as pink is huge at the moment and it is desperately needed on gloomy days like this. I've been on a crappy mood since I got back so I think a little pink would do me some good too.

Mình đã từng viết một bài về màu hồng khi mới lập blog này. Nhưng hôm nay mình vẫn muốn viết thêm 1 bài nữa về màu hồng vì bây giờ màu này đang khá là on trend và những ngày thời tiết như thế này thì màu hồng lại càng cần thiết hơn.

I spotted a Topshop baby pink fluffy swing coat 2 months ago when I was still living in England and it took me 1 month to decide whether I should buy it because it was way out of my budget at that time. And by the time I finally said to myself "Screw it, I'm gonna buy the coat. It's not like I'll find another one like this anytime soon.", it is out of stock at my local store in Norwich :(

Mình tìm được một chiếc áo khoác màu hồng nhạt cực kì xinh ở Topshop cách đây 2 tháng khi mà mình vẫn còn đang sống ở Anh và mình mất 1 tháng để quyết định xem có nên mua chiếc áo này ko vì ở thời điểm đấy mình đang cực kì thiếu tiền. Đến lúc mà mình quyết định mặc kệ tất cả và bỏ tiền ra mua áo thì hàng Topshop ở chỗ mình sống - Norwich đã ko còn hàng nữa :(

I think everyone needs a baby pink coat, whether they like pink or not. It's not the easiest colour to wear but it brings brightness, playfulness and fun to any outfits. I searched all over the internet for something similar to the Topshop coat and found these (below). They are not quite as perfect as the Topshop one but they look great too! I also added the Topshop coat to this photo so that you can see and even buy it if you're a size UK12 :D

Mình nghĩ là ai cũng cần có một chiếc áo khoác màu hồng nhạt, bất kể họ có thích màu hồng hay ko. Màu hồng ko phải là màu dễ kết hợp nhất nhưng nó mang lại sự tươi sáng và vui vẻ cho bất kì bộ trang phục nào. Mình đã tìm kiếm khắp nơi để tìm đc một chiếc áo tương tự như áo Topshop và tìm thấy những chiếc áo trong ảnh. Mặc dù ko phải chiếc nào cũng đẹp như chiếc áo mà mình thích, nhưng chiếc nào cũng rất xinh xD. Mình cũng cho luôn chiếc áo Topshop mà mình thích vào ảnh này (dòng 2, thứ 2 từ trái sang) để cho các bạn tham khảo.

Moodboard: Knits

Hi again,

I started my new job last Thursday and I'm getting quite busy so I'm thinking about changing the blog a bit. There will be a short and images-filled post (hopefully) everyday with my daily inspiration, moodboard or one of the old post types (Steal it, How would I wear...?, etc.). I will also try to write a longer post and have a photoshoot every weekend.

We don't have much of a winter in Hanoi. I wasn't here during winter in the last 4 years so I can't remember how cold it normally gets or how long it normally lasts but it's already November and the weather is still hot and sunny all the time. However, there is a super typhoon coming in the next few days and I really hope it will get cold enough for me to wear knitted jumpers. I just love all knitted things and I desperately want a cotton candy pink chunky knitted jumper, especially one with turtle neck! (I'm serious so if anyone in Hanoi know where I can get one, please let me know. Thanks a bunch :*)
