Fashion and Film: The Great Gatsby (1974)

If you follow my facebook page, you might have known that I'm super excited to see the remake of The Great Gatsby this month. Daisy Buchanan is one of the most fashionable characters I ever known. Her outfits always reflect 1920s fashion so well: the sparkles and embellishment, the sheer and light and flowy material of all the garments, the flapper dresses, the long pearl chain, the diamond bracelet and necklace and the sparkle hats/headpieces.

I planned to do this post for weeks but I was too busy and last week, after Vogue has a feature on how to achieve Daisy Buchanan's look from The Great Gatsby (1974) I knew I had to do a post on this right away. While my blog can't compete with Vogue, most of the items in Vogue's feature are way too expensive (I'm talking about $3000 dresses) so I think this post would probably profit you more as I always try to keep the prices of items featured here as low as possible. You can check out Vogue's feature here.

Although, I think I do need to apologise before you continue reading as some of the items featured here exceeded my "under £50" target. They are just too beautiful and fit this post and Daisy too well!

(I skipped the last look because it is rather too glamorous and I'm too lazyyyyy. But if you want, please leave a comment below and I will update this post)

1. Miss Selfridge flapper dress £129 (they are offering 20% student discount); 2. Coast clutch £60; 3. Mood long pearl necklace £15 (on sale, £12); 4. John Lewis bracelet £16

1. ASOS dress £150; 2. Mood long pearl necklace £15 (on sale, £12); 3. ASOS heels £32

1. New Look dress £139.99 (on sale, £63); 2. Rare London clutch bag £14; 3. John Lewis heels £95

1. ZARA dress £35.99; 2. J by Jasper Conran necklace £18; 3. Call It Spring heels £45 (on sale, £36)

I'll publish a new post about the fashion in the new version of the film in the next 3 weeks, after I go to see the film. Can't wait to see my beloved Carey Mulligan and The Great Gatsby!

Thank you for reading and hope you enjoy the post!
See you again soon.
xx

  1. I love this! Though I have to say... I won't be seeing the new Gatsby film due to prejudice, bad reviews, and my love for Mia Farrow/Robert Redford's version. I do look forward to your inspired collages~
